Camu Camu (Myrciaria dubia) is a small Amazonian fruit that has almost the highest vitamin C content of any plant in the world. The shrub-like tree, 2 to 8 meters high, thrives deep in the swamp and rainforest of the Amazon. The name Camu Camu is believed to come from the “camu” sound that fish make when they pluck the floating fruit from the surface of the water. Organic Camu Camu is picked by hand from a canoe. After picking, the Camu Camu berries are peeled, pressed and dried. The leftover pulverized Camu fruit is then placed in a custom-designed drying machine, which slowly extracts moisture at a constant temperature below 45°C. The dried Camu Camu can then be ground into a fine powder, which is carefully tested before packaging to ensure it is free of all potentially harmful microbes.

Camu Camu is rich in Vitamin C. The fruit has the second highest content of Vitamin C and is only surpassed by the Australian “BillyGoat Plum”. In addition to vitamin C, Bio Camu Camu also contains other healthy nutrients. Camu Camu is full of various flavonoids, antioxidants, and tannins.
